Kyland SICOM3024P, which has been approved by KEMA for IEC61850 compliant, has been successfully tested and deployed in the electric power substation project of Areva Colombia. This signifies the beginning of full cooperation between Kyland and Areva in the power applications in South America.

SICOM3024P is Kyland’s solution for IEC61850 compliant industrial Ethernet switch with max 24 100Base-FX fiber ports or 24 10/100Base-TX copper ports, 4 1000Base gigabit fiber ports. It is an industrially hardened, fully managed Ethernet switch specifically designed to operate reliably in electrically harsh and climatically demanding utility substation and industrial environments.

Due to the excellent performance of
SICOM3024P, Areva Colombia started to consider and apply full Kyland solution of industrial Ethernet switches in more and more power projects in South America. One of the successful applications is the 230/34.5KV substation in Costa Rica. About 30 SICOM3000 and KIEN6000 Kyland industrial Ethernet switches are going to be applied in this project working under Kyland DT-Ring protocol to offer the best reliable network with fast recovery time.
